Q: What skills do you think are essential for success in this industry, specifically in the distribution center?
Get to know this month’s OmniCable Expert: Adam Evanson, OmniCable’s Distribution Center Manager of our Toronto location! Adam began his journey in the wire and cable industry in 2002 and gained experience by working in a multitude of roles, including inside and outside sales, project quotations, and warehouse operations. In 2019, Adam learned that OmniCable would be opening its first facility outside of the United States and couldn’t resist the opportunity to help its flagship Canadian location open its doors. Today, Adam leads a team of 10 employees focused on serving our Canadian customers. Recently, he shared details on his team and role with the company.
A: I would emphasize the strong importance of self-confidence. Confidence in yourself and your abilities would be the best skill you can possess. That skill alone can set you up for success in anything you do. This belief in one's capabilities is crucial in an environment where quick decision-making and problem-solving are daily requirements.
Q: What is the most important lesson you have learned during your tenure at OmniCable?
A: My tenure at OmniCable has taught me many valuable lessons, but the most significant one is the impact of working for a company that truly cares about its employees. When you work for a company that truly cares about its employees, it empowers you to try hard every day and to be a contributor to the success of the business. The supportive environment at OmniCable fosters a culture of dedication and excellence, which I strongly believe drives our employees to give their best every day.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote or motto that motivates you?
A: This motto is simple yet profound to me: “nothing that’s worth doing in life is easy." It reminds me that challenges are an inherent part of any worthwhile endeavor and overcoming them is what makes the journey rewarding and enriching.
Q: What is the most important factor you feel our customers should know about OmniCable’s distribution centers?
A: I would love for our customers to know that OmniCable's distribution centers are associate-led environments, meaning we empower our people to make decisions at the floor level. An atmosphere like this inspires them to think differently and be creative to solve problems during challenging times without fear of failure. This empowerment not only enhances operational efficiency but also boosts employee morale and innovation. It’s a truly special place to work.

A: Our customers' success drives the passion for our craft, and I am extremely proud of that. Our customer-centric approach ensures that every decision and action taken in our distribution center is aimed at delivering the best possible service and solution to them. Our customers’ satisfaction is at the forefront of our minds from the moment their order hits the distribution center, while we are processing the order, and even after it ships and is on its way to them.
